Sophie Mårtensson holds a PhD in Health and Welfare and is a licensed specialist nurse. She is affiliated with the University of Skövde, Sweden, School of Health Sciences, where she holds the positions of Subject Coordinator in Caring and Clinical Placement Coordinator. Her research work focuses on the advancement of caring as an academic discipline, with particular emphasis on digital learning innovations, the development of professional competence, and the integration of higher education with clinical practice. Through her research and pedagogical engagement, Dr. Mårtensson seeks to strengthen the integration of theory and practice and to promote conditions that support learning, reflection, and professional growth in healthcare.

The presentation at eMHIC25 will present findings from the Technological Openness and Learning Attitudes (TOLA) survey, which investigates technological openness, attitudes toward, and learning through generative AI (genAI) and genAI-based virtual patient systems. The focus will be on the genAI-based virtual patient system Crisis Support VR, highlighting the experiences and perceptions of learning among crisis support team members from diverse professional backgrounds, including physicians, psychologists, nurses, counsellors, and rescue service personnel who have engaged with this innovative digital tool.
