Cultivating an Enabling Ecosystem for Digital Mental Health and Substance Use Health Solutions: Best Practices and Implementation
Time
2:05 PM - 2:15 PM (EST)
Description

The Canadian mental health and substance use sector is experiencing an unprecedented need to evolve its systems of service to respond to the increasingly complex and intersectional needs of its citizens. With increased service demand, decreased clinical access, complex wellness challenges, socio-political instability, and a climate crisis further illuminating the need for cross-sectoral responses to health and social needs, we are at a critical point where collaboration and timely solutions is paramount. In the face of these notable challenges the ability to mobilize multi-faceted evidence and diverse experts through shared vision and collective partnership can significantly enhance how we think about and deliver services. There is an opportunity to leverage national and global networks to dismantle aspects of our social impact and health sectors that no longer serve us well, while incentivizing partnerships, augmenting impact and our evolving our understanding of what evidence entails. We believe there’s a compelling opportunity to build robust, impact-driven networks that resonate with the diverse needs of our communities. By bringing together national and global partners, we can challenge outdated practices and create solutions that truly make a difference. A key focus of our session will be on co-design, which emphasizes the importance of involving end users in shaping the mental health systems that impact their lives. We’ll explore practical strategies for broadening our perspective and working across sectors while fostering a sense of shared ownership and accountability. Participants will engage in open dialogue about how to effectively dismantle ineffective practices while integrating evidence-informed solutions that respond to today’s realities. We’ll share compelling examples from Frayme’s virtual national network, which has successfully engaged over 500 active partners over the past seven years in enhancing system collaboration and knowledge exchange. Insights from the Global Leadership Exchange will also be featured, highlighting how effective network development can drive meaningful change across regions. Attendees can expect to leave this session with practical tools and applicable learnings about how to harness the power of collective expertise and innovative networks. Specific learnings include: 1. The ways in which we build physical and digital networks that are impact-driven 2. How we de-implement aspects of a system we’re working within while implementing evidence-informed solutions. 3. How we broaden our lens to co-design across sectors while maintaining our focus and leveraging our collective ownership and accountability.
