Karen Hay is a passionate advocate for leveraging technology to improve population and public health outcomes, with more than 20 years of experience in the public health sector. She firmly believes that better data leads to better outcomes.

As the former Director of Public Health IT Solutions at Ontario’s Ministry of Health, she was instrumental in developing key provincial digital health assets, including the prescription drug repository, immunization repository, and communicable disease case and outbreak management system. Her early experiences as an infectious disease epidemiologist during the 2003 SARS outbreak inspired her to pursue technology-driven solutions to support public health practice—expertise that proved invaluable when she led Ontario’s pandemic technology response through COVID-19.

Currently at Salesforce, Karen helps government clients around the world reimagine and transform health services to improve population health.

She was also the 2019 recipient of Digital Health Canada’s Leadership in Digital Health Award.
