Ananda Galappatti is a medical anthropologist and a practitioner in the field of mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) across humanitarian crisis, development and post-conflict settings. Ananda received a Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2008 for his work in Sri Lanka and was elected to the Ashoka Fellowship in 2011.
Ananda is the co-Director of MHPSS.net, a global online platform hosted by the Institute for Health Policy, Sri Lanka, and also Director of Strategy at The Good Practice Group, a non-profit working to strengthen communities and services in Sri Lanka and beyond. Ananda has been adjunct faculty at the University of Colombo for two decades, and is currently a member of the Lancet Commission on Racism & Child Health.
Ananda currently serves in a voluntary capacity on the Task Force for Digital Transformation of Education, under the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministries of Education and Digital Economy in Sri Lanka. He is also a member of the Voluntary Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Education, and has been involved in efforts to initiate a policy dialogue around digital mental health in Sri Lanka.
