Joseph Saliba’s research centers on digital mental health interventions (DMHIs) and post-secondary student well-being. He holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) from McMaster University and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Health Systems Research (Health Informatics emphasis) at the University of Toronto’s Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. Based at the Centre for Digital Therapeutics, University Health Network (UHN), his research interests include using user-centered approaches to design, evaluate, and integrate DMHIs as part of a growing stepped-care ecosystem for post-secondary students.
He is a recipient of both the Canada Graduate Scholarship – Master’s and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship for his thesis, which involves co-designing a digital self-monitoring indicator with students that aggregates validated self-report mental health measures into an actionable visual summary of student well-being. The indicator will support reflection, early awareness, and behavior change, ultimately empowering students to actively self-manage their mental health in a clinically grounded and data-informed way.
