Speaker Bio

Dr. Tasdik Hasan is a global mental health researcher specialising in digital mental health and underserved communities. He is currently completing a PhD at Monash University, where he is co-designing digital tools to improve the mental health of Deaf communities in Bangladesh. He was named one of eight global digital mental health innovators by the Mental Health Commission of Canada and has contributed to Bangladesh’s National Mental Health Strategic Plan (2020–2030).

With over 100 publications in leading international journals, Dr. Hasan’s work is influential across global health, public health, and mental health domains. As a public health physician and educator, his contributions span three key areas. First, he conducts mental health research in low-resource settings, examining the burden of mental illness, and the support needs of marginalised communities. His research applies global mental health frameworks and systems thinking to improve wellbeing in low- and middle-income countries. Second, he mentors emerging global mental health researchers across diverse settings. Third, he actively engages in policy advocacy, using science communication to collaborate with media, ministries, and policymakers.

His recognitions include the New Voices in Global Health Award (2017), The Lancet Prize (2018), Digital Mental Health Leadership Excellence Award (2024), and the Study UK Alumni Award – Science & Sustainability, Bangladesh (2025) by the British Council.
