Senator Hay is an executive with over 40 years of experience in the academia, healthcare, mental health digital solutions, innovation data & technology and global collaboration.
In March 2025, Senator Hay was appointed to the Senate of Canada, with a strong commitment to mandates of digital health/virtual care & e-solutions, innovation & data leadership, youth empowerment, youth mental health and human rights. She will work tirelessly on behalf of all people in Canada, however they identify, or wherever they may live, always with a view of future focused solution-based sustainability.
In 2017, Ms. Hay began her role as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kids Help Phone (KHP). She has transformed the organization into Canada’s only national, 24/7, multilingual e-mental health service for young people, interacting with young people more than 22M times since 2020. Ms. Hay would say that transformation is a team sport and, together with the courageous leaders across Kids Help Phone, KHP became an innovation data-driven technology charity with a laser sharp focus on youth and mental health. From there, the accelerator KHP was launched nationally and globally in 2025.
