Dr. Sherry George is a Director of Mental Health and Addictions with Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services (NLHS). In this role, she leads program development, enhancement, and evaluation for a large geographical area that encompasses remote and rural populations. She is a culturally competent leader with a desire to advance equity, diversity and inclusion principles in health services.

Sherry has previously held leadership roles in both healthcare and academic institutions, including primary health, mental health, public health, and community home care. In her current role with NLHS, Sherry feels a sense of returning “home” to a long-held interest in the mental health and addictions field. Her passion and focus on the social determinants of health lead the way towards building tools and strategies for equitable access and wrap around support.

Sherry is an accomplished healthcare professional with a Bachelor of Social Work from Dalhousie, Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Waterloo. Sherry also holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Western Ontario.
