Maya Jabs is a PhD candidate at Flinders University in the College of Education, Psychology, and Social Work. Originally from Canada, she completed her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology with First Class Honours at the University of Calgary, alongside an embedded Certificate in Mental Wellbeing and Resilience. Her research focuses on designing, evaluating, and implementing digital mental health interventions for youth and young adults, with a particular emphasis on eating disorder prevention and early intervention.
Maya is currently leading a multi-phase project co-developing and testing app-based, transdiagnostic single-session interventions (SSIs) for university students. She has contributed to national and international projects focused on eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism, with roles spanning ethics applications, survey development, participant engagement, data analysis, and manuscript writing. Her experience includes randomized controlled trials, systematic reviews, and service evaluations in both academic and clinical settings.
She has also worked in youth residential care, supporting at-risk adolescents, and collaborates with school and community partners to evaluate mental health programs. Drawing on evidence-based frameworks, Maya develops scalable, user-informed tools aimed at improving access to timely and effective support for young people.
