Dr Woodward is Director of Policy for LifeLine International with responsibility for formulating and articulating policy contributions from this network of 35 telephone and online crisis support services in 27 countries. Dr Woodward has worked in crisis lines for 25 years and has undertaken research on user experiences of these services and the impact of service use in people’s lives. Dr Woodward has provided policy advice to all levels of government and is a former Commissioner with the Australian Mental Health Commission. In 2022 he received the UNSW National Mental Health Prize (Professional) and in 2021 a LIFE Award for Leadership in Suicide Prevention. He is a Fellow of the Australian Evaluation Society and an Honorary (Enterprise) Fellow with the Centre for Mental Health and Community Wellbeing at the University of Melbourne.
